The Slot Grill Story: Built in Texas, Refined by Real Cooking
The Slot Grill is made in Texas by Precision Cut Metals LLC, and it's sold direct by the people who make it. There's no middleman, no reseller network and no overseas factory. That's on purpose.
The idea
Most portable grills make a trade: light and flimsy, or sturdy and awkward. The Slot Grill set out to refuse that trade. Thick carbon steel that doesn't flex or warp, but cut so precisely that it assembles by hand with tabs and slots, no tools and no hinges, and packs flat enough to slide into a trunk, kayak, RV closet or camp box.
Refined by use, not on a screen
Slot Grill says the design didn't come from a computer screen or a rush to production. It was improved over years of real cooking: the team cooks on its own grills often, and each revision came from what performed best in actual cooking conditions.
That's where details like these came from:
- The Spine: a formed steel bottom on the Compact, so the underside is smooth and safe with no loose pieces to pinch your hand.
- The air gap: 2⅞" between the table and the bottom of the coal bed on the Compact to help minimize radiant heat to tables, tailgates and decks.
- Universal end pieces with SLOT GRILL cut into the steel.
- Two sizes: the Full Size, and the Compact at 80% scale, still strong enough for cast iron.
- A system: griddles (planchas) designed alongside the grills to flat-stack properly and travel clean, plus a Seasoning Balm made for raw Slot Grill steel.
